Study in China
We focus on Wuhan and Changsha: top universities, cheaper than Beijing or Shanghai and with less competition. My partner Javier speaks Chinese and deals directly with the universities.
Top universities at a lower cost
Wuhan (Hubei province) and Changsha (Hunan province) are in central China. They have some of the country's best universities, and living there costs 30% to 50% less than in Beijing or Shanghai. In other cities competition for a place is tougher and options are more limited.
- Wuhan: Wuhan University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, with English-taught programmes and medicine in English.
- Changsha: Central South University, the most popular with international students in its province. Everything there is taught in Chinese.
- Javier, my partner, speaks Chinese and communicates directly with the universities.
The universities we recommend
Wuhan University
One of China's most prestigious universities and very popular with international students. Strong in law, sciences and geography. Teaches medicine in English.
Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST)
A powerhouse in engineering and medicine. English-taught programmes and a Chinese language year. Our first recommendation in Wuhan.
Central South University
The main gateway for international students in Hunan, with a historic medical school. Everything in Chinese: medicine requires HSK 5.
Hunan University
Another of Changsha's major universities, strong in engineering, business and design.
Hubei Normal University
The cheapest option. Two bachelor's programmes in English: Computer Science and International Trade.
Hubei University of Medicine
For studying medicine in Chinese at a lower cost. Requires HSK 4. Located in a smaller city.

In English or in Chinese?
In English: there are English-taught programmes at Wuhan University, Huazhong and Hubei Normal. You don't need to know Chinese.
In Chinese: most programmes, and all of those in Changsha. They require HSK 4 (or HSK 5 for medicine at Central South).
What is HSK?
It is the official Chinese language exam, like TOEFL for English, with levels 1 to 6. Level 4 is intermediate: enough to follow classes in Chinese. It is usually reached after one intensive year of Chinese at the university itself.
The CSCA exam and age limits
What is the CSCA?
It is China's admission exam for international bachelor's applicants, like a university entrance exam. From the 2026/27 intake the leading universities require it, including Wuhan University, Huazhong and Central South, and by 2028 all of them will. Maths is compulsory; depending on the programme, academic Chinese, physics or chemistry are added, and the science papers can be taken in English.
And for a master's or PhD?
The CSCA is not required. You apply with your degrees, transcripts and each programme's requirements.
Is there an age limit?
Yes, at many universities, especially for bachelor's: some accept students only up to age 25. Master's and PhD are more flexible. We check it before applying.
Can you study medicine in English?
Yes, in Wuhan: Wuhan University and Huazhong are authorised to teach medicine in English to international students. In Hunan province (Changsha) there is no medicine in English; if someone offers you "medicine in English at Central South", that information is out of date.
Note: a Chinese medical degree is a university degree, not a licence to practise. To work as a doctor in your country you must complete whatever licensing process it requires.
The student visa
Once admitted, the university sends you the admission letter and the JW202 form. With those documents, your passport and the medical exam, you get the student visa at the consular section of the Chinese embassy. You hand in your passport yourself; nobody keeps it.
How the process works for China
Free assessment
We talk on WhatsApp: what you want to study, your budget and your profile. We see if it's possible, with no commitment.
Contract and payment
If you decide to go ahead, we sign the contract and you pay the fee.
Choosing the university
We propose options in Wuhan or Changsha with their real fees. You decide.
Documents
We review your documents, and get them apostilled and translated.
Application
Javier communicates in Chinese with the university and follows up until the admission letter.
Visa
With the admission letter and the JW202, we prepare your appointment at the Chinese consulate.
Arrival
What to bring, how to get there, accommodation and the first paperwork there.
What we tell you honestly
Nobody guarantees admission or the visa
The university and the consulate decide.
We don't give or process scholarships
Chinese government scholarships are applied for directly through their own channel. Our service is for students paying their own tuition.
Fees change
The figures on this page are those published by each university. We confirm them before you pay the university anything.
Your passport is always yours
It only leaves your hands when you hand it in at the consulate.
Guidance for China: $1,000, all inclusive
If you live in Spain: €1,000. The assessment is free.
If you don't get a place or your visa is refused, I refund half: $500. This doesn't include what was paid to the university or the embassy.
